Securing the privacy, safety and welfare of residents is a top priority on Fisher Island. To that end, transport to and from the Island is regulated and monitored by means of a 24-hour ferry system upon which the identity of all persons entering the island is verified. Fisher Island’s ferries accommodate passenger vehicles and conveniently depart every 10 minutes from the Island and mainland access point located on MacArthur Causeway, 365 days a year.
The Fisher Island Public Safety Department is a multi-function department comprised of officers with security experience in both the private and public sectors. Officers have been trained to perform Security, First Aid and AED life saving duties. The officers man numerous strategic posts throughout the island 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, allowing for very quick response times. The Fisher Island Public Safety Department also works closely with an island-based Miami-Dade Fire and Rescue Station on fire suppression, fire safety inspection and other life-saving duties.
